I've been reading Dan Walters for years. He's by far the best columnist the Sacramento Bee has ever had. Read this column and you will understand who public education in California is at best a dirty joke. How can we, as a nation, remain competitive when we have teachers union thugs running public education? Why hasn't John McCain and Barak Obama issued papers on what they would do? Why hasn't the Republican party made this criminal activity a cause celeb? The why is because the Democrats are socialists and America haters and the Republicans are stupid and cowardly. It's too bad we have disfunctional government at all levels. Jim
