I have been reading Debra Saunders columns since my first days in Sacramento in 1983. She is a conservative columnist writing for a liberal newspaper in San Francisco. She writes a great column---filled with facts I wouldn't know if I had not read her column. Almost all of my blog listings come from newspaper columns. I learn from reading newspapers. I'm one conservative who hopes newspapers continue and flourish. As a society America is "dumbing down". A loss of newspapers will hasten that descent. Jim
