Declarations - WSJ.com

I truly love Peggy Noonan but in this column she's dead wrong. As Ronald Reagan would say, "there you go again". Yes Peggy, it is snobbery. Elitist snobbery (both Democrat and Republican) is epidemic on both coasts. You wonder what Sarah Palin brings to the table--Peggy, here's a short list. She draws crowds greater than any Vice Presidential candidate has ever drawn. Even in your elitist haven you must wonder if this means people like her. She has singlehandedly excited the base of the GOP---a base so dead before Palin that you could hardly get people to admit they were Republican. Yes--she has a sense of being common folks---something a Republican electorate has been crying for since Reagan. She is exciting--she is real. Or perhaps you prefer the stumbling boredom of Joe Biden---is he your role model for VP? Please--us people living between the east and left coast aren't mental retards. Some of us are educated, we read, even understand politics. I know---you yearn for a Dudley Dog Shit policy wonk who has all the charm of misplaced dog doo. No thanks Peggy---I'll take Sarah. Jim
