I'd much rather have a young, idealistic, bright high scoring college graduate teach in the inner city schools than some union slug who hasn't changed a word in lesson plans in the last twenty years. This article points out the idealism of the young college graduates and the negative attitude of teachers unions. Excellence in public education always has to fight with an entrenched teachers union. When excellence wins, kids benefit---when the union wins those kids are sentenced to a lifetime of low achievement. Jim
