Education Pick Is Called 'Down-to-Earth' Leader - washingtonpost.com

I pray Arne Duncan is successful. Without much exaggeration perhaps he holds the fate of the nation in his hands. Yesterday was my birthday and last night we went out for dinner. Our waitress was a tall woman, an excellent server and very articulate. I asked her where she grew up and she replied "Las Vegas". In further conversation she said she had both a BA degree and a Masters degree and had taught second grade. She left teaching to become a waitress because she could make more money and have less stress than being in the classroom. Something's wrong in this picture. I hope Arne Duncan can fix it. Jim
