FT.com / Columnists / John Gapper - Who will mourn local newspapers?

I confess that I read a great local newspaper, the Las Vegas Review Journal. I also subscribe to Newsweek but it is hardly the news magazine it used to be. I read four papers online each morning. Newspapers were part of the culture of my generation. Newspapers are not part of the culture now. Four generations of dumbing down education has made newspapers a novelty for most Americans age 40 and under. I don't see any chance of reversal. America cares little for news but is addicted to entertainment. Perhaps America is going the way of the Romans. Jim
