George F. Will - Litigation Nation - washingtonpost.com

George Will is right. The essence of this column is that because of what I consider frivilous law suits, we're not letting kids be kids. When I was in grade school we had a 15 minute recess in the morning and a 15 minute recess in the afternoon. I, like damn near every other kid in school, fell off the slide, got pinched on the teeter totter, dive bombed off a swing and sprained my ankle and raced around the school building. There were no law suits, just a bunch of happy, healthy kids who understood and accepted they might get hurt rough housing. Had some lawyer tried to sue the school district for normal play, he would have become an outcast (if not had the shit kicked out of him by a mad parent). There is no reason American kids have to become pansy assed fat freakos. Maybe Mark Twain was right, "shoot all the lawyers". Jim
