I wonder if there will be public education 50 years from now. Or perhaps, just for the children of the homeless. Certainly few urban schools can take credit for educating its young. It seems we have moved from the tough education (like memorizing) to touchy feely---don't hurt some kids feelings when at the same time the inmates are running the prison. I am agnostic about the continuing merit of public education as we know it today. Let's mix and match with home schooling, on line classes, magnet schools, charter schools and discipline in all classrooms. And lets defederalize public education. When all else fails, try common sense. Jim
