Crazy daze in the UK. I wonder if Gordon Brown officiated. Tony Blair would disaprove--but then, Tony Blair, in a league with Churchill and Thatcher, isn't a British favorite anymore. That's a slam on the British, not Tony Blair who in my view is a hero. I wish we could change out Bush and McCain for Blair. Jim

Before I say anything else, I have to tell you that Tony Blair is a hero to me too. And I'm British.
This country and particularly the Labour party are struggling since he left. But, the small-minded and bigoted STILL hate him for supporting Bush over Iraq, although like Bush, he did the right thing, imho. He refused to walk on the other side and leave the festering sores for another generation.
BUT - and it might be a big BUT for you to bear - Blair was responsible for bringing in civil partnerships in Britain.
I am not sure where he'd be over this "marriage" thing. It's something further than a "civil partnership". But I imagine he'd NOW be guided by his new RC faith. If he is not standing for office any more - (oh, how I wish he would!) - then that's only HIS business.
Britain and much of Europe is much more culturally and socially liberal than the USA, and Blair reflected, and I think genuinely felt that.
But the slippery slope argument is always there.
The only slippery slope that REALLY concerns me, though, is the creeping islamicism that is encroaching upon our western cultures, on both sides of the Atlantic.
If Sharia Law ever gets a foothold, these "marriages and "civil partnerships" will be ended swiftly & unceremoniously.
If only the liberal Left understood that Blair is on their side, and would protect the socially "unusual". I do wish I felt the present British government was clearer over this. They can't make up their minds whose side they are on.
THAT concerns me more than whether two guys get 'hitched'!
Blair's thinking is clear on the real threats to this world.
