This is a wonderful story about Tim Russert. Tim was born and bred a blue collar boy. He worked his way to the top because of talent. The same can be said about Tom Brokaw. Tom made it because of talent. And so did Peggy Noonan and most of America's greatest journalists. Unfortunately, the trend today is in the opposite direction. The networks are hiring a lot of poor little rich boys and girls to play the role of newspeople. This new breed may have the right pedigree, the right college degrees, but they don't have the insite, the talent, the understanding of America that Tim Russert had. That's unfortunate. Jim
