OBAMA LEADS MCCAIN 50% TO 41% IN A NATIONAL POLL. Noone should find this surprising. Here's a suggestion for the Republicans. From what I can observe the GOP has the edge on the Democrats regarding the President's position on drilling for oil. As I understand his position he wants drilling off the coasts and in Anwar. The Democrats don't believe in drilling. The American people support drilling to the tune of about 75%. This gives the GOP a decided edge. The President, immediately upon adjournment of this Congress, should call it back into special session for the sole purpose of authorizing drilling. Don't let the Democrats adjourn. Keep calling the Special Session until there is an up and down vote and until drilling is authorized. This strategy is what is known as leadership. Senator McCain will have to come around to drilling in Anwar. Maybe someone can convince him it's a matter of winning or losing. Call this what you will. I call it a last chance strategy for a losing party. Jim
