I agree with Thomas Friedman. Our public schools need fixing. Let's start by cutting the teachers unions off at the knees, create a system for awarding excellent teachers merit pay and fire those who place political correctness over correctness. If you're interested in reforming public education read "Making Schools Work" by William G. Ouchi. Empowerment schools should be the wave of the future. And one last point---get the federal government out of public education. Jim
